Nadya's Full Bio

Hello!  Nice to meet you!  :)

My name is Nadya Lakaeva.

I am a Vedic Astrologer, a Designer, and an Empath.

My Dharma Type is: Outsider (playing an Educator).

Originally from Western Siberia (in the Ural region of Russia), I came to the United States when I was 18 years old and never looked back.

I have a linguistic background, having studied philology as my first university major, and am talented at languages. This makes me very passionate about Sanskrit (the ancient, sacred language of the Gods) and mantrasProper Sanskrit pronunciation is very important to me, and you can see that throughout all pf my classes, where I teach my students to respect its authenticity, honoring the ancient tradition.

In the 10 years that spanned my interlude from school, I managed to work in the corporate world, which eventually drove me to retreat and wholeheartedly study Yoga and Ayurveda.

After completing an immersive Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at the renowned "7 Centers Yoga Arts" studio in Sedona and spending some time learning at the feet of the luminous Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, I followed my passion for design & the arts by pursuing a degree in architecture.

Through a myriad of obstacles, I somehow miraculously graduated Summa Cum Laude from the ASU School of Architecture.  After graduating, having dipped my toe into the real world of architecture, I felt utterly unsatisfied by the mundane nature of my newly-chosen career.  I reached a profound understanding that I needed to be involved in something infinitely deeper and more meaningful - to be able to feel fulfilled in this lifetime.  This realization drove me away from architecture and fully into Jyotisha.

I have been practicing Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology) full-time for several years now and could not be happier!  Tangibly changing people's lives - by going straight to the core of their being, unraveling their karma, and helping them guide themselves towards their life's purpose (Dharma), deeper satisfaction (Kama), abundance in all spheres (Artha), and eventually their final liberation (Moksha) - has been the richest and most fulfilling experience I could ever dream of or hope for!

I have also been so fortunate and privileged to now be teaching Jyotisha and other Vedic modalities alongside my famed, amazing, and brilliant partner Simon Chokoisky, as well as solo.  So, come and join our classes and learn how to decode your birth chart!

It would be my pleasure & my privilege to take you on a journey of Your Birth Chart's Destiny.

- Helping you find your true purpose in life.

What is Vedic Astrology?

Vedic Astrology is called "Jyotisha" in Sanskrit, which means either "seeking light" or "full of light." This name alludes to the capacity of this science/art to shed light onto the person's lifepath -- based on the heavenly bodies that shine their light onto us, "stamping" us, so to say, with their individualized energies.

If we evaluate the position of the planets & stars (and their relationship to each other) at the moment of your birth, we can decipher specific patterns of behavior, which will in turn be indicative of the life-choices you are prone to making, as well as the narratives you are likely to run in your mind, which then determine your destiny.

Is Vedic Astrology different from Western Astrology?

The main difference between Vedic & Western Astrology is the depth of the spiritual tradition that the Vedic system is steeped in. (For instance, one cannot successfully practice Jyotisha without the blessing of the spiritual lineage that the practitioner surrenders themselves to.)

Jyotisha is ancient Indian astrology. It is based on the concept of reincarnation of the soul that is on the journey of evolution -- through burning karma and learning lessons that push us closer to Self-realization (meaning that we are all on the journey of enlightenment, just at different stages).

Thus, the primary concern of Jyotisha is to identify not only those patterns that will make the person successful in the material world, but also those that keep the person from evolving spiritually and those that create the various kinds of suffering that the native struggles with.

Vedic Astrology is profound (existential), comprehensive (covers all areas of life), & magical.

The magic of Jyotisha is evident in the amazement of the myriads of people from all walks of life, for whom I read their astrological birth-charts. I encourage you to experience it for yourself!  :)

Let's work together to shed light onto your life path.
